Amanda Bossard was just out of high school when she started her marine biology studies at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard began her career as a commercial fish worker in 1999. She started working at the vessel F/V Sunset an a65' halibut-schooner and was later converted into a tender for salmon in the name of Murat Aritan. She worked as a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard who is married to Aritan, has joined their alliance to gain access to their industries. They are both proponents of conserving renewable and sustainable sources of seafood. Otolith was established at the time of Philadelphia by Bella Bossard, now the mother of two children who are aged three and one Bossard. In 2007, Bossard, mother to two kids Bella age 3 and Andre 1, and returning to Philadelphia from her home in Canada, launched Otolith as a direct market wholesale seafood distributor. As of July 2016 Bossard as well as her daughters Isabella age 12 and son Andre aged 10 returned to Southeast Alaska annually each summer to work as deckhands throughout the wild salmon harvest in summer. They use hooks and line to capture their salmon before joining Aritan for local processors for two months. Then they continue to increase their direct seafood sales via Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
